Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: This was definitely one of those games where we can all forget about it, or learn from it. Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Julio Teheran didn’t have his best stuff on Wednesday evening and the Washington Nationals made him pay.
In the 1st inning, Teheran shut down Adam Eaton and Anthony Rendon, but then Bryce Harper strolled to the plate. First pitch, he crushes one over the right/center field wall. The guy absolutely destroys Teheran. He has seven career home runs off Teheran which are the most against any other pitcher. I guess since we’re on the topic, Harper hit his second homer of the game off Teheran in the 3rd inning â?? this one hurt more as it was a grand slam.
The Nationals had two five-inning runs on the Braves. That’s pretty difficult to keep up with. Until the second five-run inning, the Braves were actually in the game and I felt they could still come back. Then the second grand slam of the night came off of Ryan Zimmerman in the 8th inning against Ian Krol.
Bright spots for the Braves â?? Josh Collmenter threw three innings, gave up five hits, no runs, one walk and three k’s. Freddie Freeman stays hot and Nick Markakis is hitting the ball well.
Cold spots for the Braves â?? Ender Inciarte injured his wrist during batting practice when he slid unexpectedly in the outfield. He left the game early. Anthony Recker went 0-4 at the plate as well as an error behind the plateâ?¦on a passed ball, he tried to throw the ball behind his back, but it went nowhere close to the …
