The Atlanta Braves didn't take anyone in Thursday's minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft, but they did lose two pitchers, namely Mike Lee and Blaine Sims.

The Arizona Diamondbacks drafted Lee, who spent last season with Double-A Mississippi, while the Houston Astros took Sims after a year at Advanced-A Lynchburg.

Lee started his professional career with seven seasons in the Red Sox organization before being released in 2012. The Braves signed him out of the independent Frontier League that same year. He went 9-8 with a 3.71 ERA in 25 total appearances (20 starts) in 2013.

Sims has been in the Braves' system since 2010 with some ugly numbers. He threw up an 8.44 ERA last season while trying to turn himself into a knuckleball pitcher.
