Frisaro says the Braves "certainly will entertain shopping Uggla," and are so desperate to do so that they'll pick up the tab for $20 million of the remaining $26 million on his contract.
Uggla, who will be 34 on Opening Day and is declining by the second, has also gotten so bad that the Braves would also likely have to part with a prospect, but they have plenty of those.
Uggla's .179 average was the worst for a qualifying player since 1900, and he got worse after "correcting" a vision problem with LASIK eye surgery. After hitting .233 with 36 homers and 82 RBIs in 2011, Uggla has hit a cumulative .201 the last two seasons.
It could be a good change of scenery for Uggla, who already owns the Marlins franchise record with 154 home runs. Here's hoping it happens.
