Boston Red Sox Complain About Jhonny Peralta Playing, Forget David Ortiz Used Steroids

The Boston Red Sox are just one win from the World Series, but that hasn't stopped players from complaining about Jhonny Peralta being able to play for the Detroit Tigers in the American League Championship Series after serving a 50-game performance enhancing drugs suspension this season.

Peter Gammons is reporting that players are privately grumbling in the clubhouse about Peralta's eligibility.

"There are several Red Sox players who have complained privately that Peralta is allowed to play. They wonder what remains in his body. But as Jonny Gomes says, 'we all play by the rules, and he is playing by the rules. So go out and play.'"

But, if we really want to be fair, David Ortiz shouldn't be involved in anything related to Major League Baseball either. If you remember, Ortiz tested positive for steroids in the Mitchell Report. Big Papi has always tried to play the deer in headlights/innocence card, but nobody in their right mind believes him.

After all, Ortiz's numbers did conveniently explode when he signed with Boston in 2003.

Let's also keep in mind that Peralta wasn't suspended for a positive drug test, but was involved in the Biogenesis scandal. Ortiz has supposedly passed all of his tests since 2003 as well, but that doesn't really mean that much when one has already been confirmed for roiding.

In short, it sounds like the Red Sox need to take the plank out of their own eye first.
