Brian McCann isn't exactly that far removed from what was likely his last game with the Atlanta Braves, but the veteran catcher isn't exactly excited about the thought that 2014 will see him in a different uniform.
"It's kind of hard to think about that right now," McCann said on braves.com. "I'm just going to try to put it in the back of my mind, and whatever happens is what's going to happen."
The nine-year veteran, who turns 30 next year, will likely end up in the American League where he can also serve as a designated hitter. He maintains that he's only been focused on winning with the Braves even through his 0-for-13 playoff performance.
"My focus this whole time has been winning ballgames," McCann said. "That's all you can do at this level. You can't worry about your future. You've got to worry about your present."
McCann, who resides in and is a native of Georgia, also seems a bit wary of the free agent process.
"It's definitely one of those things I've never been through," McCann said. "I've got two kids at home, so that's what I'll be doing."
McCann was resurgent this season after an injury-plagued 2012, hitting .256 with 20 homers in just 102 games.
