After perusing many sources over the past 24 hours concerning the Atlanta Braves first three games of the National League Division Series, it appears that an overwhelming majority of fans have no faith in their team and they are prepared for a loss tonight against the Los Angeles Dodgers which would end the Braves 2013 campaign.
Many of the comments were from fans who questioned Fredi Gonzalez's managerial moves concerning pitching and most notably the snub of Dan Uggla on the playoff roster. Others labeled the Braves a perennial regular season winner and postseason loser.
The Braves were never given much respect by the media during the season. Even when they possessed the major league's best record, they were rarely first in weekly power polls.
Fans seem to agree. Most pointed to the Dodgers superior pitching staff and the Braves lack of hitting. The Dodgers bats have been on fire and their pitching staff is solid.
Atlanta has two players on its roster, Jordan Schafer and Paul Janish, who are banged up but have said they are ready to play if necessary. Neither have played through the Braves first three games of the NLDS.
The bright side for fans of Atlanta sports is that the Atlanta Falcons still have a chance to muster a winning season, but must begin turning things around right away. They play tonight at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta and promise to turn viewers away from watching the Braves.
The Braves need a win tonight to stay alive in the postseason. Freddy Garcia, a veteran who won a World Series ring with the Chicago White Sox, will start the game for Atlanta and Braves fans can only hope his experience and performance will be enough to tie the series and extend the season for another day.
