Brian McCann only lasted until the second inning of the Atlanta Braves' 7-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday when he was forced to leave with a strained groin. The positive note is that the Braves could have him back as soon as the weekend.
McCann said he initially felt the muscle tighten while he was warming up David Hale in the bullpen. When it worsened after he struck out in the first inning, he took himself out of the game.
McCann has hit .256 with 20 homers and 57 RBIs in 102 games this season.
