Quite simply, the Braves aren't playing all that well, especially with Jason Heyward's absence from the lineup, but the fact that the team is slumping two weeks before the playoffs has some so-called "fans" jumping ship.
Let's do some math. The Braves' slump has allowed the Nationals to inch within eight games of the National League East lead with 11 games to play.
The Braves' magic number is four, which means any combination of Nationals losses and Braves wins over the next 11 games that equals four will clinch the NL East for the Braves.
That means the Braves would have to win three or fewer games over the next 11 games and the Nationals would have to either run the table or get really close to it. That's just not going to happen.
If a fan seriously thinks his favorite team is worthless and enjoys talking junk about them more than actually talking about how they like them and how excited they are to win a division title, then, please, the Miami Marlins are in the basement. They could use some company.
