The Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals have postponed Monday's series opener at Nationals Park in the aftermath of the DC Naval Yard shooting Monday.

The shooting, which left 12 dead, resulted in many streets in DC being blocked off. Players and coaches were also permitted to enter the ballpark around noon, and the Braves' team bus left their hotel on schedule, but that didn't keep the events of the day from affecting the game.

Monday's game will be made up as a split doubleheader Tuesday, with game times of 1:05 and 7:05. The series will wrap up on Wednesday, as originally scheduled.

The postponement gives the Braves two days off this week – Monday and Thursday – but the earliest they could clinch the National League East is still Tuesday if they sweep the doubleheader. Their magic number is four.
