For the first time since having his jaw broken Aug. 21, Jason Heyward took batting practice with the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field on Friday.

Heyward, who is finally able to eat solid foods, has been regaining strength and shagged flyballs during the first round of BP before hitting with a helmet fitted with a faceguard. He also hit in the indoor batting cages at the Ted.

"Nothing's holding me back," Heyward said on braves.com. "I have to let time take its course now."

The Braves will send Heyward to play in instructional league games, which start on Monday.
