Miami Marlins rookie pitcher Jose Fernandez hit his first career homer off Mike Minor. The way he treated it was not met warmly by the Atlanta Braves in the sixth inning of Tuesday's loss, as one can see in the video below.
Fernandez and Chris Johnson had already exchanged heated words between innings, and Fernandez worsened things by "pimping" his homer by admiring it and flipping his bat. Fernandez then made it even worse by spitting on third base when he passed Johnson, leading to Brian McCann confronting him at home plate.
That then led to the benches and bullpens clearing and even more dirty words being exchanged.
No one was ejected or injured, but warnings were issued to both teams.
Fernandez picked up a win in his final start of the year, giving him a 12-6 record and 2.19 ERA.
