The Atlanta Braves have been beleaguered by injuries in their 2013 campaign, losing Jason Heyward, Reed Johnson, Jordan Schafer, Justin Upton, Johnny Venters, Eric O'Flaherty, Brian McCann, Ramiro Peña, Tim Hudson, Tyler Pastornicky, and Christhian Martinez. These injuries have ranged from day-to-day, to season-ending, yet haven't stopped the Braves from maintaining the best record in baseball.
The Braves outfield has been hit the hardest, with Heyward sustaining multiple injuries throughout the season, including his most recent, a fractured jaw. Reed Johnson has also been out with a nagging Achilles problem.
Justin Upton has been day-to-day as well with occasional back problems, while Jordan Schafer has had back problems, ankle sprains and knee problems from foul tips keeping him out of the line-up regularly.
The Braves (85-54) take on the divisional rival Phillies (63-77) in a three game set at Citizens Bank Park. While the Phillies are virtually out of contention for a playoff berth, the Braves are still fighting to maintain the best record in baseball in order to secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
