Having already been impressed with his performance, the Atlanta Braves have called up pitcher David Hale to the big league club for the month of September, ajc.com reports.

The Braves added the 25-year-old righty to the 40-man roster last winter, and he impressed them in Spring Training, particularly after striking out two straight Marlins to end a game with the tying run on third.

“He’s got some good stuff,” Fredi Gonzalez said after that outing. “Getting out of that jam… He’s got pitchability. He’s got some quality pitches. He elevated the fastball, he can sink it. He’s been impressive.”

Hale put up a 6-9 record with a 3.22 ERA in 20 starts (22 total appearances) for Triple-A Gwinnett this season.

A Marietta native, Hale was the Braves' third-round pick in the 2009 draft. He spent his first two falls after the minor league seasons were over finish his economics degree from Princeton University.
