Jason Heyward Cleared to Start Light Conditioning

Atlanta Braves outfielder Jason Heyward was cleared by doctors to start light conditioning, Dave O'Brien reports.

Heyward spent 30 minutes on an elliptical machine on Friday in the first vaguely rigorous activity rigorous activity since having his jaw broken by Jon Niese on Aug. 21. He had surgery to insert two metal plates a couple days later, but he avoided having his jaw wired shut.

Heyward is hopeful he can return to the Braves in time for the playoffs at the beginning of October.
