Atlanta Braves outfielder Justin Upton has left Thursday's game with the Cleveland Indians early after being hit by a pitch from Ubaldo Jimenez on the left hand. Fox Sports reports the X-rays were negative, and the Braves are calling it a hand contusion.
Jimenez hit Upton with a fastball going 92 miles per hour in the fifth inning. That forced Freddie Freeman, who was getting the day off with a balky knee, to pinch-run.
Upton looked as if he would stay in the game at first before Fredi Gonzalez came out to remove him from the game, leaving reason to believe the move was precautionary.
Thankfully, nothing was broken, which would have meant definite time on the disabled list on an already injury ravaged Atlanta team.
