The Atlanta Braves do not have the most strike-outs in baseball; they're close, however. The Braves currently sit at 1, 127 strikeouts on the year – tied with the Minnesota Twins for 2nd in all of baseball. The Houston Astros currently lead the category with 1,252 strikeouts.
Coming into the season, it was no secret that the Braves' 2013 line-up was going to strike-out a lot. Between Dan Uggla, BJ Upton and Justin Upton, the Braves quickly accumulated many strike-outs. With a much more power-charged line-up this year, one can expect to see an increased strike out rate.
The record for most strikeouts in a single season is held by the 2010 Arizona Diamondbacks, a team which Justin Upton was a part of. The 2010 Diamondbacks compiled 1,529 K's throughout their 2010 campaign. Whether the Braves will come close to this is anyone's guess, as the team has cut down significantly on their strike-outs since the All-Star-Break.
The current strike out leaders for the Braves are Dan Uggla (148), Justin Upton (134) and BJ Upton (126). Freddie Freeman and Chris Johnson both follow the top 3 with 98 and 94 K's, respectively. It should be noted that all but BJ Upton are in the top 5 for at-bats for the Braves this season.
Andrelton Simmons, leading the team in At-Bats (506) after spending the majority of the season in the lead-off spot, has an impressively low 46 K's on the season.
Will the Braves break the single season record for strike-outs? With 30 games remaining, only time will tell.
