After coming off a difficult road trip that cost the Atlanta Braves their star right-fielder, Jason Heyward, for the rest of the regular season, and while also dropping three of four games in St. Louis against the Cardinals, the Braves are happy to kick off a nine game home stand tonight at Turner Field.
The Atlanta Braves take on the NL Central 2nd place Cleveland Indians (71-59), who have had a surprisingly strong showing under manager Terry Francona, sitting only two games out of a Wild Card playoff berth in the National League.
After putting together a line-up that had only three of the Braves' regular starts, the dormant Braves offense finally came to life in the final game of their four game series with the Cardinals. While the Braves' offense has been more 'feast' than 'famine' lately, the most recent road trip reminded Braves fans of how painful Braves baseball can be when the offense isn't clicking.
Dan Uggla is also expected to return to the line-up for Wednesday's game, after a rehab assignment following a successful LASIK surgery for some eye problems that have been giving Uggla problems since Spring Training. While his rehab games have left much to be desired, many are hoping that Uggla will return to form and add some pop to a beleaguered Braves lineup.
