The Atlanta Braves have claimed Infielder Elliot Johnson from the Kansas City Royals off release waivers, according to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star.

Johnson is a switch-hitting bat off the bench, that owns a lifetime batting average of .212. Originally a member of the Tampa Bay Rays' farm system, Johnson has spent the majority of his career as a utility infielder.

Johnson will more than likely help to fill the role of utility infielder the Braves have been looking for in order supplement their bench that has recently been riddled with injuries. Johnson could see considerable playing time with Tyler Pastornicky out for the season and Dan Uggla recovering from LASIK surgery.
