In what's become a pretty chippy rivalry, Atlanta Braves pitchers have hit Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper three times this season, including twice in the Braves' 3-2 win Friday night. Luis Avilan hit Harper with his first pitch in the eighth inning, but he says it was far from intentional.
Avilan (on hitting Harper): "I hope he doesn't think I did it on purpose. I dont want to put the ahead run at first. I feel bad" #Braves

The Nats already had a runner at second in a one-run game, so Avilan beaning Harper put the go-ahead run on base with two outs. He claims those who think he threw at Harper on purpose are ignorant.

Whatever the case is, Julio Teheran did throw at Harper on purpose earlier this month, so expect some fireworks Saturday night when he starts.
For the record, the Braves' win put them 15 1/2 games up in the National League East.
