Gerald Laird went hitless in a minor league rehab game with Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday. The Atlanta Braves are expected to activate their backup catcher Saturday.

Laird went 0-for-3, putting the ball in play in each of his at-bats. He also caught Pete Orr of the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs stealing.

The veteran catcher will likely head back to Atlanta and be activated from the disabled list Saturday. He has been out after having a procedure to remove kidney stones last week.
