Surprise! The Atlanta Braves have another injured outfielder. This time it's Reed Johnson, whom the Braves placed on the 15-day disabled list after Monday's 10-inning win over the Colorado Rockies with Achilles Tendinitis braves.com reports. Johnson's spot was filled by Atlanta purchasing the contract of Todd Cunningham.
Johnson tweaked the injury, which Fredi Gonzalez says Johnson has dealt with for some time, while trying to leg out a groundball while pinch-hitting in the eighth inning on Sunday.
Johnson has played in 66 games this season for the Braves, hitting .263 with 11 RBIs.
Cunningham has hit .283 with two homers and 30 RBIs with Triple-A Gwinnett this year, spending the majority of his time in center field. He is also a switch-hitter and ranked the no. 8 prospect in the Braves organization.
