Laird has been in severe pain the past several days, leading to a hospital visit on Sunday. The majority of the time he hasn't been in pain has been while on prescription pain medication.
Manager Fredi Gonzalez was the first to point out that Laird may have kidney stones. Laird was originally complaining of back trouble and said the pain moved to his side, leading Gonzalez, who has had four kidney stones, to come that conclusion.
Kidney stones can take several days and sometimes weeks to pass.
Laird is at Turner Field for Tuesday's game, but will still probably not be available.
