The Atlanta Braves return to Turner Field Friday night for a week's worth of home games, starting with a three-game set with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Despite playing .500 baseball for months, the Braves have an eight-game lead in the National League East, and the St. Louis Cardinals possess a 2 1/2 game lead in the National League Central.

Who's chopping:

Chris Johnson and his .326 has finally accrued enough at-bats to qualify for a batting title. He is currently fourth in the NL.

Mike Minor threw a complete game for the first time in his career in his last start, though he did pick up a tough luck loss. He has allowed just five runs over his last three starts.

The Cardinals' offense has been insane this year. Yadier Molina (.336), Allen Craig (.334) and Matt Carpenter (.325) all reside in the top five in National League batting averages.

Adam Wainwright has put up a 13-5 record and 2.44 ERA this season, anchoring a pitching staff that ranks third in the NL.

Who's flopping:

Kris Medlen has struggled with mechanics, putting up a 5.53 ERA in his last seven starts.

The Braves' rotation has been decimated recently, losing Tim Hudson for the season with a broken ankle and Paul Maholm for the next couple weeks with a sprained wrist.

Friday, 7:30 on Fox Sports South and MLB Network: Braves LH Mike Minor (9-5, 2.98 ERA) vs RH Adam Wainwright (13-5, 2.44 ERA)

Saturday, 3:05 on FOX: RH Julio Teheran (7-5, 3.25 ERA) vs RH Joe Kelly (1-3, 3.88 ERA)
