B.J. Upton is feeling loads better after straining his right adductor muscle July 12 on a diving catch attempt, braves.com reports. The Atlanta Braves haven't put a timetable on his return, though Upton is eligible to come off the disabled list Saturday.
Upton was cleared to start jogging on Monday and hit off a tee on Tuesday. He will gradually ramp up the intensity over the next few days.
"It definitely feels a lot better than last week," Upton said. "I'm definitely making progress, and I don't see it being too much longer."
There's essentially no way Upton will be ready to return to Atlanta by Saturday, so he'll need a rehab stint in the minor leagues.
Said rehab stint may end up being a blessing in disguise. Upton has hit a Major League-worst .177 while battling mechanical issues with his swing.Tags: Atlanta, Atlanta Braves, B.J. Upton, Baseball, Disabled List, MLB
