Tim Hudson sustained one of the worst looking injuries of the year while covering first base in the eighth inning of the Atlanta Braves' win over the New York Mets on Wednesday at Citi Field. After an Eric Young groundball hit Freddie Freeman in the chest, Young accidentally stepped on Hudson's ankle. Video is below, but consider this a warning at its graphic nature.
Young was visibly upset over injuring Hudson. Hudson was carted off the field after 7 2/3 innings.
Hudson had hurled a shutout to that point but was later charged with two runs. He struck out nine Mets batters.
