Atlanta Braves outfielder Jordan Schafer is still three weeks removed from returning to game action, but he can start doing light baseball activities as soon as next week while rehabbing his fractured right ankle, braves.com reports.
Schafer is currently with the team in Chicago, but when they fly to New York, he'll go back to Atlanta for an exam on the ankle.
After he's cleared, Fredi Gonzalez said he'll be able to throw, hit off a tee and do hitting drills but will not be able to take live batting practice or run.
Schafer was placed on the disabled list July 4 after fouling a ball off his ankle on June 26.
