Brandon Beachy to Start Atlanta Braves’ Minor League Rehab Game Tuesday

Brandon Beachy felt good after a 50-pitch bullpen session on Saturday, leading the Atlanta Braves to schedule him for a rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Gwinnett, ajc.com reports.

Beachy, who had Tommy John surgery just over a year ago, was shut down three weeks ago after he developed inflammation in his throwing elbow. It was his first setback of his rehab. He will likely get two or three minor league rehab starts before rejoining the Braves.

Speculation abounds over who the Braves would move to the bullpen or trade to clear out room in the rotation for Beachy. Kris Medlen is the only member of the current rotation who has bullpen experience, but there is also talk of trading Paul Maholm.
