The worst case scenario has come to fruition yet again for the Atlanta Braves. The @Braves Twitter account reports that Ramiro Pena will have season-ending shoulder surgery on a torn labrum sustained on a diving play on June 9 at Dodger Stadium.

Dr. James Andrews will perform the procedure in Gulf Breeze, Fla., another tweet said. Andrews has already performed Tommy John surgery on Jonny Venters and Eric O'Flaherty this year.

Pena was having a career year with a .278 batting average and three homers in 97 at-bats, all while serving primarily as a pinch-hitter and defensive replacement.
