Harvey, who took advantage of the fact that the Braves and Mets had just finished Monday's rain delayed game 12 hours before, struck out 15 batters in his seven innings. He gave up three runs, all the result of inherited runners scoring on the Mets' bullpen.
Jason Heyward broke up Harvey's no-no with an infield single to start the seventh inning, but it wasn't until Gerald Laird drew a walk to start the eighth that the Braves would get themselves on the board. Down 4-0, Laird's walk combined with singles by Dan Uggla and Andrelton Simmons resulted in Harvey's departure after seven-plus innings.
After LaTroy Hawkins struck out Brian McCann, Jordan Schafer drove in the first two Braves runs with a single. Heyward then doubled to bring home Simmons before Chris Johnson struck out to end the inning.
The Mets can thank David Carpenter for his two walks and hit batter leading to their two insurance runs in the eighth inning, which secure Alex Wood taking a loss in his first Major League start.
Wood pitched well, considering he has not started a game since May 25 for Double-A Mississippi and he fought through a blister on his left index finger. He hurled a perfect first inning and got around two walks in the second inning.
Things got interesting in the third, however, when Daniel Murphy singled with two outs before David Wright walked. Marlon Byrd hit a chopper to Chris Johnson, who thought about going to second before throwing to first. Byrd beat the throw and Murphy never stopped running, beating the throw from Freddie Freeman.
Wood's day ended with one run over three innings, his removal necessitated by a blister on his left index finger from throwing his knucklecurve.
John Buck added to that lead with a lead-off homer in the fourth inning to start Cory Rasmus' three innings of work. Rasmus was called up as the Braves' 26th man for the twin bill.
