The Atlanta Braves and New York Mets are set to start a monstrous five-game series, being necessitated by a rainout from May 4. The Braves have the luxury of hosting the series at Turner Field, where they have the Major Leagues' best home record.
The Braves currently lead the season series 3-2 and have a 13.5-game lead on the Mets, who sit in fourth place.
B.J. Upton still has a long way to go, but his two homers and double in the series against the San Francisco Giants raised his average to .167. It was .145 on May 31.
Freddie Freeman leads the Braves with 46 RBIs. Keep in mind that he missed two weeks with a strained oblique and has only played 56 games this season. He's hitting .385 in his last 10 games.
David Wright has hit .415 in his last 10 games with the Mets. That's pretty much come to be expected of the veteran third baseman.
Matt Harvey has been the Mets' true highlight of the season. He's thrown up a 5-1 record and 2.04 ERA in 14 stars.
Andrelton Simmons has the second-worst on-base percentage on the team at .280. One has to wonder how long he'll hold on to the lead-off spot.
Kris Medlen's performance is not indicative of his 3-7 record. He is tied for the fourth-worst run support in the National League with 2.86 runs per start.
Ike Davis has had an abysmal year. He's hit .161 in in 55 games this year with no signs of a turnaround.
The Mets bullpen ranks dead last in the National League with a 4.54 ERA. They've blown 10 saves this year.
