The move was made necessary by a setback in Brandon Beachy's Tommy John rehab.
Wood has a 3.52 ERA in 7 2/3 Major League innings this year. In about a full season's worth of work between Single-A Rome and Double-A Mississippi, Wood is 8-5 in 23 starts with a 1.72 ERA.
