The Atlanta Braves finally received good news about their ailing bullpen when Jordan Walden complete a pain-free longtoss session with no pain in his shoulder, braves.com reports.

Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Walden will throw a bullpen session this week as well as complete at least one minor league rehab game before returning.

"[My shoulder] is strong right now," Walden said. "I played catch today and it was better than it has been almost all season."

Walden was placed on the disabled list Friday, though retroactive to Sunday, with right shoulder inflammation. He had allowed at least one run in three consecutive appearances.

"I tried to pitch through it," Walden said. "But it gets to a point where you are just hurting the team and hurting your arm."

Walden will likely be paired with Luis Avilan and/or Cory Gearrin as Craig Kimbrel's setup men when he returns.
