The Atlanta Braves got a lot of help from Justin Upton on the way to the best record in the National League in April, and he was recognized for it by being named the NL Player of the of Month.

Upton, acquired in January via a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks, hit a club record and big leagues-leading 12 homers in April to go along with a .298 average and 19 RBIs.

Andres Galarraga and Ryan Klesko previously owned the Braves record for homer in April with 10.

Upton had 17 homers last season in 150 games while battling through a thumb injury. He became the first player in Major League history to hit five homers in his first five games with a new team.
