The wrist injury Brian McCann sustained in his rehab for his shoulder was apparently not a big deal, as he'll start catching extended Spring Training games for the Atlanta Braves either Thursday or Friday, braves.com reports.
McCann traveled back to Atlanta earlier this week to have his wrist examined, but after it was deemed to be no big deal, he went back to Florida to work on his comeback from offseason shoulder surgery.
McCann has been the designated hitter in extended Spring Training games for the last three weeks, but he hadn't built up his throwing strength, and the Braves wanted to keep him from making aggressive throws until six months after his surgery.
There is no set schedule at the moment, but the hope is that McCann is well enough to start a minor league rehab assignment with Single-A Rome or Triple-A Gwinnett next week.
