Andrelton Simmons was scuffling after Monday's game with the Miami Marlins, hitting a paltry .143, but the Atlanta Braves shortstop poured over video of the swing of Braves legend Chipper Jones and saw immediate results.
Simmons studied video of Jones' swing on all 51 hits he accumulated while batting right-handed from last season. The results when compared side-by-side are an eerie similarity in their swings, especially when accounting for Chipper's famous toe tap.
The result? Simmons tallied three knocks in Tuesday's game and a two-run single in Wednesday's game. His average has jumped nearly 100 points to .241.
The Braves currently have digital video from every National League game for the last three years and every Braves game since 1988. As of now, all of those are able to be filtered through the 2005 season.
