Jason Heyward Gets Day Off After Slow Start

Jason Heyward is not in the starting lineup for Atlanta Braves for Tuesday night's game with the Miami Marlins after a tremendously slow start to his season. Mark Bowman tweets that Heyward has been "too tense" recently.

That could explain Heyward's 2-for-24 (.083) average a week into the season. Both of his hits came April 3, the second game of the year, against the Philadelphia Phillies. Heyward had a single and a homer that day, but since he has gone 0-for-17 with five strikeouts and two walks.

Reed Johnson is filling in for Heyward in right field and batting eighth.

Heyward was hitting .348 at the end of the first week last season, but nobody puts much stock into early stats anyway.
