LHP Jonny Venters met with Dr. James Andrews who administered a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection in his left elbow this morning.— Atlanta Braves (@Braves) April 2, 2013
Platelet-rich plasma injecitons are used to stimulate the growth and healing of soft tissue and bone, so the move is an attempt to avoid a second Tommy John surgery for Venters, who originally had the procedure done by Andrews in 2005.
Venters will start a throwing program after four weeks. No timetable has been set for his return.Tags: Atlanta, Atlanta Braves, Jonny Venters, MLB
