The Atlanta Braves are in serious limbo regarding the sprained left elbow of Jonny Venters. He was examined by Dr. James Andrews on Monday, ajc.com reports, but stories differ on the diagnosis.

Dave O'Brien reports that a source close to the situation said surgery hasn't been ruled out for Venters, but that the diagnosis is "undetermined."

MLB Network, meanwhile, reports that Venters will be out at least a month, thus putting some vague timetable on the situation.

Venters was forced to leave last Thursday's Grapefruit League game with tightness in his elbow. He was later placed on the disabled list with a sprained elbow, though Venters said he didn't feel the pop he felt when he tore his ulnar collateral ligament in 2005, causing him to have Tommy John surgery and miss 2006.
