Despite missing nearly a month with a bulging disc in his lower back, Atlanta Braves reliever Jordan Walden looks ready after completing a perfect inning in the Braves' Spring Training finale with the Houston Astros.
Walden completed his fourth appearance in nine days by striking out two and inducing a pop-up.
Walden's pain had previously been bad enough to warrant returning to Atlanta to get an epidural injection, but he will now be relied on even more heavily with no timetable for Jonny Venters' return. Venters will start the season on the disabled list with a sprained left elbow and will visit Dr. James Andrews next week.
The Braves acquired Walden over the offseason from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for Tommy Hanson. He has a 3.06 ERA over 123 career appearances.
