Longtime baseball color commentator Tim McCarver announced Wednesday that he will not attempt to extend his contract with Fox, which expires after the 2013 season, reports.

McCarver, 71, has been in the broadcast booth for 28 straight postseasons and 23 World Series.

"It's time to cut back," McCarver said.

The move can't come soon enough, as Braves 101 often wonders where he gets some of the asinine things he says.

In 21 big league seasons, McCarver hit .271 with 97 homers and 645 RBIs.
