The Baseball Writers Association of America may not have had the sense to put Dale Murphy in the Hall of Fame in his last year of eligibility, but the Atlanta Braves, who have already retired his number and inducted him into their Hall of Fame, are planning a Dale Murphy Night coupled with a bobblehead giveaway.

Before their July 11 game with the Cincinnati Reds, the Braves will celebrate Murphy's career of 18 seasons, 15 of which were spent as a Brave. The first 20,000 fans will receive a commemorative bobblehead that has been sponsored by Delta Air Lines and Coca-Cola.

Murph won the National League MVP in 1982 and 83 and was a seven-time All-Star. He ranks second in Atlanta Braves history with 371 homers since the club moved to Atlanta.

The Braves inducted Murphy into their Hall of Fame in 2000.
