Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann took batting practice for the first time this year on Thursday. On the road to recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, McCann was content with his progress.
"It was nice to get back in there and see something coming at you," McCann said on braves.com. "I'm on pace. Everything they have asked me to do, I've done."
McCann also threw at a 120-foot distance Thursday with no problems. He will complete another round of rehab exercises, throwing and batting practice on Saturday and is scheduled to continue the same routine every other day for a week.
No exact date has been set for McCann's return, who had been limited to hitting soft toss and off a tee until Thursday, but he believes he can make his goal of a mid-April return.
