The 52-year-old Ready played 13 seasons in the Major Leagues before managing for eight seasons in the Detroit Tigers and San Diego Padres organizations. He spent last season as the minor league hitting coordinator with the Texas Rangers and was the Major League hitting coach for the San Diego Padres from 2009-11.
“I’m very excited to join the Atlanta Braves organization,” Ready said in a press release. “The Braves have been a model of consistency as an organization for a long time. I’m looking forward to the upcoming 2013 season and being a part of the Braves family moving forward.”
