AJC.com reports that Bourn had an appointment with Braves hand specialist Gary Lourie on Monday and was cleared of any structural damage. Fredi Gonzalez had originally planned on starting Bourn on Tuesday before deciding to give him another day.
“Nothing structurally there, no ligament damage, no broken bones, just sore,” Gonzalez said. “But he is getting better…We’re shooting for tomorrow.”
Though the injury is minor, Bourn was concerned because he had the same thumb surgically repaired 10 years ago. Bourn usually advises against sliding head-first, but he ignored his own advice and paid for it.Tags: Atlanta, Atlanta Braves, Michael Bourn, MLB
