Though it's not the blockbuster move everyone is waiting for, the Atlanta Braves signed 41-year-old Miguel Batista to a minor league contract on Friday, tweeted David Lennon. He has been assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Batista was released by the New York Mets yesterday after being designated for assignment.
It is not expected that Batista would get any Major League action at the moment. He will instead provide the club with some insurance in case someone is injured, making the bullpen a little deeper.
In his 18th year, Batista had a 4.82 ERA in 46 2/3 innings for the Mets.Tags: Atlanta, Atlanta Braves, Miguel Batista, MLB
