George Brett will always be known as one of the greatest pure hitters to every play the game, but Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones passed him for first place on the all-time list for RBIs by a third baseman Friday night against the Washington Nationals.
Entering the game tied with Brett, Jones drove in two on a single off Washington Nationals pitcher Sean Burnett in the Braves extra-inning 11-10 win. The two-run single gave Jones 1598 career RBIs, two ahead of Brett's 1596.
Jones has also recently passed Mike Schmidt (1595 RBIs) and fellow Braves legend Eddie Matthews (1453 RBIs) on the list.
