Atlanta Braves's right fielder Jason Heyward has been on a tear of late and is finally receiving recognition for his performance. On Monday, Heyward was honored as National League Player of the Week for the week of June 18-24.
In six interleague games last week, the 22-year-old hit a league-leading .522 (12-for-33) while also slugging a National League-best 1.130. Among his 12 hits for the week were three doubles, one triple and three home runs to go along with five RBI.
Over the past few weeks, Heyward has raised his batting average to .278 while leading the team in home runs (11), triples (4) and slugging (.510), while also ranking third in RBI with 35.
