With the All-Star Game three weeks away, a couple of Atlanta Braves players might find themselves starting for the National League team.
Dan Uggla leads all second basemen with 2,054,920 votes, while Brandon Phillips is second with 1,272,389 votes. Chipper Jones ranks third among third basemen with 1,547,221 votes. He is not too far behind the New York Mets' David Wright, who leads with 1,977,388 votes, and the San Francisco Giants' Pablo Sandoval, who is second with 1,612,497 votes.
Some other Braves players may find themselves on the All-Star team, but it is unlikely they will make it as a starter. Brian McCann is currently fourth among catchers and is nearly one million votes behind the Giants' Buster Posey. Freddie Freeman ranks second among first basemen, but he is almost two million votes behind the Cincinnati Reds' Joey Votto. All three Braves' outfielders rank in the top 15 but no higher than eighth.
Jones missed three weeks with a bruised leg, but he still remains in contention to start for the National League in Kansas City's Kauffman Stadium on July 10. It remains the only stadium that Jones hasn't played in throughout his illustrious career.
