Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones and his wife, Sharon, have separated after 12 years of marriage, ajc.com reports.

A source familiar with the situation confirmed the news to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

Jones declined to comment when asked about it Thursday, and attempts to reach Sharon Jones were not successful. Though neither has filed for divorce, it would be the second for Chipper, who had a public breakup with his first wife, Karin, after he admitted to having an affair and a son to show for it.

Since marrying in March 2000, the Jones have had three sons - Trey (11), Shea (7) and Tristan (6). Sharon and the Jones children were in attendance when Chipper announced his impending retirement at a press conference in March.
