The Braves had intentions of pushing Beachy back to Friday's game against the Baltimore Orioles after Tim Hudson was skipped in the rotation due to bone spurs in his ankle. The team decided yesterday that they would give him an additional day after noticing a dip in velocity and he'll take the mound for Saturday's game against Baltimore.
Braves skipper Fredi Gonzalez noticed Beachy's fastball hanging around 88 to 89 mph rather than his usual 90-93 mph. However, Gonzalez went out of his way to shoot down rumors of elbow soreness and declaring the sole reason for the extra day off was rest. Beachy reaffirmed that there were no lingering effects when asked if he was concerned about his speed in an interview saying, "I'm not worried about anything. I'll be fine. There's nothing to speak of."Atlanta, Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles, Brandon Beachy, MLB, Tommy Hanson
